Hamburg bank leases 11,000m² of office space

SIGNA has signed the first lease for the Elbtower. The Hamburg Commercial Bank (HCOB) will lease at least 11,000m² with an option for a further 2,000m² of office space once the Elbtower is completed in 2025. The contract term is at least 10 years from the start of the lease (plus an option for a further 5 years).

“Even before we started officially marketing the space in spring 2021, we had already found the first major tenants for the Elbtower,” says Timo Herzberg, CEO SIGNA Real Estate Germany. “This early leasing success demonstrates how attractive the Elbtower is with its modern, flexibly configurable spaces and its location.” The selection for the hotel operator is also nearly done. Providers of renowned international luxury lifestyle concepts, which are not yet represented in Hamburg, have applied for space in the Elbtower.

Directly on the Elbebrücken (Elbe bridges), the 245m-high Elbtower will be built by 2025 – it will be Hamburg’s tallest building and the third tallest in Germany. SIGNA Real Estate is responsible for this project. The Elbtower – an architectural icon at the heart of Hamburg

The Elbtower was designed by the renowned architectural firm David Chipperfield Architects. The building is set at the end of the HafenCity development and stands at the entrance to the centre of Hamburg. Civil engineering work is scheduled to begin in spring 2021. 

As a mixed-use high-rise building with 64 floors, the Elbtower will have a public, mixed-use lower floor area with retail and places to eat as well as semi-public uses such as a hotel, fitness and wellness areas and co-working spaces. There will be modern office space that can be flexibly configured on the upper tower floors. A public roof terrace with restaurant use is planned for the 55th floor.
