Concreting the floor slab

Concreting the floor slab

In December 2022, in frosty sub-zero temperatures, construction workers pour concrete for the floor slab on which the Elbtower will stand.

Crane with special design

Due to their special design, each crane can lift a load of up to 28 tons.

Crane´s growth

Some cranes will grow in height alongside the Elbtower.

Truck with concrete

Throughout the weekend, trucks deliver concrete to the construction site.

Six cranes

The first of a total of six cranes are already up.

11,000 cubic meters beton

Lorries supply the construction site with concrete day and night – amounting to a total of 11,000 cubic meters.

Concrete is being poured around the clock.

Large pumps

Large pumps move the concrete to the right places.

The ground

Construction workers prepared the ground for months for the foundation’s important construction phase.

Beton floor

The floor slab is made from 11,000 cubic meters of concrete.

Drying floor tiles

Because concrete generates heat as it sets, the floor slab dries even when outside temperatures are low.

3,400 tons of beton

Workers embedded 3,400 tons of steel reinforcement for the tower’s foundation.

Start of tower construction

The concrete takes several weeks to harden before structural engineering of the tower can begin.
