Show all news Insights into the building progress Concreting the floor slab Concreting the floor slab In December 2022, in frosty sub-zero temperatures, construction workers pour concrete for the floor slab on which the Elbtower will stand. Crane with special design Due to their special design, each crane can lift a load of up to 28 tons. Crane´s growth Some cranes will grow in height alongside the Elbtower. Truck with concrete Throughout the weekend, trucks deliver concrete to the construction site. Six cranes The first of a total of six cranes are already up. 11,000 cubic meters beton Lorries supply the construction site with concrete day and night – amounting to a total of 11,000 cubic meters. Concrete Concrete is being poured around the clock. Large pumps Large pumps move the concrete to the right places. The ground Construction workers prepared the ground for months for the foundation’s important construction phase. Beton floor The floor slab is made from 11,000 cubic meters of concrete. Drying floor tiles Because concrete generates heat as it sets, the floor slab dries even when outside temperatures are low. 3,400 tons of beton Workers embedded 3,400 tons of steel reinforcement for the tower’s foundation. Start of tower construction The concrete takes several weeks to harden before structural engineering of the tower can begin.
